National beer day 2023

National Beer Day 2023

As always, Americans will celebrate our rich history on April 7, 2023, swimming in delicious American beer… some us with a “Bud”, most of us with a craft beer, and a few with a pinky-out customized beer to our exact taste. However you imbibe, we want to acknowledge the craft beer revolution, and the importance of beer in American culture.

In addition to its historical and cultural significance, National Beer Day is also an important economic driver. The beer industry employs over 1.7 million people in the United States, and it generates over $246 billion in economic activity each year. National Beer Day is a time to celebrate the beer industry and the important role it plays in the American economy.

Beer has been brewed in America for centuries, and its history is closely intertwined with the history of the country itself. The first commercial brewery in America was founded in 1632 in New Amsterdam, which would later become New York City. Beer played an important role in the American Revolution, as it was used to celebrate victories and to provide comfort to soldiers. After the war, beer continued to be popular, and by the mid-1800s, there were over 4,000 breweries in the United States.

The temperance movement of the late 1800s and early 1900s led to a decline in the number of breweries, and in 1920, the Eighteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution prohibited the manufacture, sale, and transportation of alcoholic beverages. This period, known as Prohibition, lasted for 13 years. During Prohibition, many Americans continued to drink beer, but they did so illegally. Beer was also brewed and sold in speakeasies, which were illegal bars.

Prohibition was repealed in 1933 with the passage of the Twenty-first Amendment. This allowed breweries to reopen and beer to be sold legally again. The first legal beer was sold on April 7, 1933, and this date is now celebrated as National Beer Day.

The post-Prohibition era saw a resurgence in the popularity of beer. New breweries were founded, and beer became a popular drink for Americans of all ages. The craft beer revolution began in the 1980s, when small, independent breweries began to produce high-quality beers. Craft beer has become increasingly popular in recent years, and there are now over 7,000 craft breweries in the United States.

Beer is an important part of American culture. It is often used to celebrate special occasions, such as birthdays, holidays, and sporting events. Beer is also a popular drink to enjoy with friends and family.

Though National Beer Day is a time to celebrate American beer, we’re all going to enjoy a cold beer or 12 with friends and family and the many ways that beer enriches our lives.

National Beer Day is a day for everyone to enjoy. Whether you are a beer lover or not, there is something to appreciate about this special day. So raise a glass and join in the celebration!
